Installing, circa 2013 edition

Hey All -

I'm new to using WinDbg and new to using the exploitable crash analyzer.

I've installed windbg on a win7x64 system and it runs fine (or seems to). I downloaded the most recent version of the MSECExtensions (1.6.0 as of today), unzipped it, and copied the dll and pdb files from x64\Release into my WinDbg's winext directory.

When I launch windbg and attempt to load MSEC, this is my output:

0:000> !load winext/MSEC.dll
The call to LoadLibrary(winext/MSEC.dll) failed, Win32 error 0n126
"The specified module could not be found."
Please check your debugger configuration and/or network access.

I've seen some previous posts about this that said, "Read the readme in the MSEC directory". Unfortunately there is no readme in the latest release, just a license file and a changelog.

Any pointers to getting msec up and running on an x64 system (such as prereqs) would be mucho appreciated.

Thanks,
Reid

The 1.6 version of !exploitable was compiled in Visual Studio 12 using CRT 11 runtime. Most likely you do not have this runtime installed.
You can download and install the redistributable from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679
